“Daughter” Intesa Sanpaolo announced plans to buy assets in Russia

Banca Intesa, a subsidiary of the Bank, the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo, is looking for growth opportunities, including acquisitions of other banks, said on the sidelines of the investment forum in Sochi head of the Board of Directors of Banca Intesa Antonio Fallico, reports .

“Inorganic growth involves the acquisition of another asset of the Bank. The size is good, who allows us to be one of the first ten banks of Russia”, — said Fallico.

He also noted that in the first place Banca Intesa is interested in the universal banks, whose customer base are corporate customers.

“A small Bank in a big country — it’s a big risk. If in a large country, we will have a big Bank, for us it’s less risk,” — said Fallico.

In Italy, Intesa Sanpaolo ranks first in terms of loans (market share is 15.9%), attracted funds of clients (16.8 percent), assets in trust (20%) and factoring (29.2 per cent). In 2003, the group was founded in Moscow ZAO “Bank Intesa”, in 2005 acquired a controlling stake in KMB Bank, and in 2010 joined the credit institution in the unified Bank, named JSC “Bank Inteza”.

As of December 31, 2016 assets of the Russian subsidiary of Intesa Sanpaolo amounted to 54,9 billion rubles., capital — 12.1 billion rubles. According to the portal Banki.ru, Banca Intesa in terms of assets occupies 87 th place in the Russian banking system.
