Seoul has appealed to Moscow with a request to help in the arrest of four suspects in the murder of Kim Jong-Nam, brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN, but the request was denied. This is with reference to sources reported by South Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo.
According to the newspaper, the suspects who are citizens of the DPRK, immediately after committing the crime left Malaysia by air via Jakarta, Dubai, Moscow and Vladivostok.
As the source explained the newspaper, Russia refused to fulfill the request of South Korea, since at the time the investigation was in initial stages and there was not “sufficient progress”. Besides, the suspects Lee JI Hyun, Lee Jae Us, Hong Jong HAK and Jeong Gil had the nationality of North Korea.
At the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Korea there is no information on the matter, said the Embassy spokesman, commenting on the JoongAng Ilbo.
