In 2016, the economy of Ukraine received foreign direct investment of just over $4.4 billion, which is approximately 17% higher than the previous year ($3,7637 billion), follows from the data of the State statistics service of Ukraine (Ukrstat). In total, the economy of Ukraine was invested by the representatives of 77 countries, but the largest investor in Russia.
According to official statistics, the direct investment of Russian business in 2016, the economy of Ukraine (excluding Crimea and Sevastopol, which Ukrainian authorities still consider their own, and the zone of the antiterrorist operation in the Donbass) amounted to $1,667 billion or approximately 37,84% of all foreign investment.
