Transnistria has accepted the idea to make Russian flag national symbol


The Supreme Council of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic in the first reading endorsed the government’s initiative to use the Russian flag as the second state flag. About it reports Agency “news of Transnistria”.

The draft bill specifies that such a decision is motivated by the desire “to reunite with the Russian Federation”.

“The national flag of Russia is the Transnistrian people lasting Association with the Russian government, the multinational people of Russia, part of which feels the multinational people of Transnistria, and this Association has a solid historical basis”, — stated in the explanatory note, a quotation from which leads the Agency.

The Russian flag will be placed on the buildings and premises of state bodies and bodies of self-government and during formal events. The authors are confident that it “will mean the strengthening of the Transnistrian statehood and celebrate the new stage of integration of PMR with Russia.”

“News of Transdniestria” reported that the use of the Russian tricolor will not affect the status flag of Transnistria. If the simultaneous raising flag, PMR will be on the left side of the building, and Russian on the right.

In early January, the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the President of Moldova Igor Dodon for the first time in eight years. The parties discussed cooperation on issues of displacement and recognition of documents. He expressed the opinion that the duties of the heads of state is to do everything possible to improve the welfare of citizens.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the trip Dodon in Transnistria courageous step. He noted that it is “a demonstration of the desire to restore not only relationship, but also the territorial integrity of the country.”
