Essentuki city court in absentia arrested the ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, according to the website of the court.
“A judgment in respect of Yatsenyuk in absentia preventive measure in the form of detention, due to the fact that he is 21 February 2017 declared internationally wanted”, — stated in the message.
Yatsenyuk charged under part 2 of article 209 (participation in an armed group (gang), paragraph “b”, “z”, “h” of article 102 (premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances) and part 2 of article 15 (liability for preparation for a crime and for attempted crime) of the criminal code of Russia.
Yatsenyuk said in Facebook that has received notification of the Russian Ministry of foreign Affairs about excitation of criminal case against him. “The Kremlin is seeking legal mechanisms for the prosecution of Ukrainian politicians. In this scenario, the intention is to bring the topic of “atrocities Yatsenyuk in Chechnya” to a new level for a wide range of further actions”, — the politician has commented on the document.
In the fall of 2015, the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin in an interview to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” claimed that in December 1994-February 1995 Yatsenyuk was in Chechnya, where allegedly was part of the punitive units of the Ukrainian nationalist Alexander Muzychko, and participated in the fighting against the Russian army.
As Prime Minister Yatsenyuk worked from February 2014. In February 2016, the Parliament recognized the work of his Cabinet of Ministers unsatisfactory, however, votes to dismiss him, was not enough. The struggle for the resignation of the government provoked a political crisis, the output of which became the decision of the coalition to nominate as Prime Minister the Chairman of the Rada Volodymyr Groysman and voluntary resignation of Yatsenyuk. On the resignation of Yatsenyuk announced on 10 April 2016.
