US deported to Moscow, convicted of spying for the Russians


US deported a Russian citizen and a former employee of Russia’s Vnesheconombank Eugene Buryakov, who was convicted on charges of espionage. A message posted on the website of the immigration and customs enforcement Agency (ICE).

The service distributed a photograph of beets filmed in the cabin of the aircraft “Aeroflot” on the way to Russia.

Buryakov was arrested in new York in January 2015 on charges of illegal work for the Russian government in the U.S. and in collusion with this purpose.

In March 2016, he pleaded guilty to one article: action as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the US authorities. Beets was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison and paroled on March 31.
