Ukrainian Alfa-Bank issued a statement in which he denied that advertised their services on billboards in Kiev with the use of images of commanders of the unrecognized DND and LNR. The corresponding statement posted on the website of the Bank.
“Alpha-Bank Ukraine” is irrelevant to the placement of the advertisement with the faces of fighters ORDO (some regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. —) and condemns dirty provocations resorted to by unidentified persons in an attempt to undermine the credibility of the international Bank in Ukraine”, — reads the statement of the financial institution.
The report also stated that the Bank was one of the first international credit organizations stopped work “in the occupied territories in full compliance with the legislation of Ukraine: in the Crimea and in the Donbas.”
In addition, the statement stresses, the main shareholder of Alfa-Bank “Lviv Michael Friedman”, a citizen of Israel, residing in London, and 9.9% of the shares of the beneficiary “alpha-Bank Ukraine” holding ABHH belong to the “Italian financial giant UniCredit”.
“Our Bank, which in the first nine months of 2016 paid to the Ukrainian budget UAH 467 mn, departed for the payment of pensions, scholarships, repairs of roads and other social needs, which month have to answer for baseless accusations that the Bank is the Russian”, — is reported.
In Kiev on 13 April, there were billboards depicting slain warlords of the unrecognized DNR and DNI Givi, Motorola and Brain, reported the Ukrainian edition of “Browser” and “Country.ia”. A photo of the three commanders is accompanied by the inscription: “This is all that will remain after me. Deposits of Alfa-Bank”. According to the “Strenia” photo of the Billboard appeared in the community “Typical Kyiv” on Twitter.
Later photo in this community in Twitter has been updated. Administrators placed over the image advertising with the killed commanders of the unrecognized LNR and DND inscription: “This is a provocation”.
In the Ukrainian Alfa-Bank announced that the legal division of the financial organizations already working with “unfair advertising” that “violate a number of laws” in Ukraine, placing damaging Bank information and giving false information.
In March, activists of the volunteer Association “national body” (reorganized battalion “Azov”) and “Avtomaydan” declared war “daughters” of Russian banks in Ukraine due to the decision of Sberbank of Russia to serve the residents of Donbass on the passport of the unrecognized DND and LNR.

On 8 February President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the recognition of documents issued to citizens of Ukraine and stateless persons residing in the territories of separate districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine. It said that the move is temporary, pending resolution of the political situation in the East of Ukraine. As explained later, Putin’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, the recognition in Russia of passports DND and LNR was dictated exclusively by humanitarian considerations.
Russian banks in Ukraine
In late January, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva said in an interview with “New time” that the share of Russian banks in the Ukrainian market decreased “over the past few years” from 15 to 8%. Five of them — “Sberbank Ukraine”, VTB Bank, BM Bank, Prominvestbank, Alfa-Bank has reduced its assets, shows the report for the third quarter of 2016, according to IFRS. In particular, the savings Bank occupies in the Ukrainian banking system the fourth place in terms of assets (according to the website Banker.ua), has reduced them by nearly 9% from 51.8 billion to 47.2 billion. Alfa-Bank, occupying the fifth place, by 2.8% from 42.4 billion to 41.2 billion hryvnia. BM-Bank — 6.3% — from 3.2 billion to 3 billion. The share of funds of natural persons in the banks with Russian capital decreased from 9.3% in early 2014 to 5.5% by 2016, the share of legal entities — from 8.3 to 3.3 percent, noted previously, the regulator.
