The head of the main Department of international military cooperation (GU MVS), the Russian defense Ministry Sergei Koshelev resigned. About it reports “Kommersant”, citing several sources close to the defense Department.
According to them, Koshelev has already written the official report about resignation, citing health problems. “He is undergoing medical examination, and then will sign an order for his dismissal,” — said the newspaper’s source. Temporarily perform the duties of the head of the Department of the MBC, according to the publication, will be the first Deputy Kosheleva — the General-the major Alexander Klimowski. As noted by the sources, the decision about a successor Kosheleva at the head of the GU MVS is still pending. The position claimed by at least three people, but the most likely candidate sources name Klimovskaja.
GU MVS is the Central body of military management of Armed forces of Russia, which is responsible for military-technical cooperation, in particular with the countries of the organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO), the CIS and NATO.
Koshelev was born in Moscow in 1957. In the late 1970s, he passed military service in frontier troops of KGB of the USSR, and later graduated from the Institute of Asian and African studies of Moscow state University named after Lomonosov majoring in “historian-orientalist, interpreter of Marathi language”. Koshelev more than 30 years working in the Ministry of foreign economic relations of the USSR and the Russian foreign Ministry at various posts in the Central office and abroad.
