Moscow. April 21. Japanese companies ready to participate in the third phase of the project “Sakhalin-2” and buyers or investors, said the head of the energy Ministry of Russia Alexander Novak.
“It is planned to expand this project, construction of the third stage. And Japanese partners confirmed their interest, first, in purchasing liquefied natural gas from this project. Second, the possibility of financing the project, and of participation in the construction,” said Novak in an interview to “Russia-24” the results held in the Tokyo meeting of the Russian-Japanese Advisory energy Council.
“When will such decisions (on the “Sakhalin-2″) finally adopted, I think, the Japanese partners will participate in this,” he added.
In the framework of the project “Sakhalin-2” works only at the moment in Russia LNG plant. The Operator “Sakhalin-2” – Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (Gazprom – 50% plus one share, Shell – 27.5 per cent minus one share, Japan’s Mitsui and Mitsubishi – 12.5% and 10%, respectively).
In late February, Gazprom announced a new tentative launch date of the third line (5.4 million tons) on the project “Sakhalin-2” – 2023-2024 years, while in November it was called 2021. The timing of the ready FEED of the construction project of the third stage of an LNG plant in the first quarter of 2018, reported in April, the Chairman of the Board “Gazprom” Alexander Medvedev.
