The Union is going to lower the threshold of duty-free import of goods up to €500

Maximum value of goods that can be imported into the territory of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU) for personal use, will be reduced from €1,500 to €500. This is stated in the project document of the Eurasian economic Commission (EEC).

It is expected that the decline will occur gradually — in 2017 and 2018 will remain the same in 2019 will amount to €1 thousand in 2020 €750 and €500, beginning in 2021.

In addition, according to the document, will be reduced the maximum weight of goods that can be imported without duties. It will change from the current 50 kg to 25 kg in 2021. All these changes will concern only those citizens who will enter the territory of the EAEU member States for ground transportation — cars, buses, trains and marine vessels. In addition, we are talking exclusively about goods for personal use.

For those goods that will be transported for personal purposes on the aircraft, the maximum weight and the cost will remain the same — 50 kg and €10 thousand, respectively.

In December 2016, the newspaper “Vedomosti” with reference to representatives of the Ministry of economic development and ECE wrote that the cost of Internet packages, is not dutiable in the EEU will gradually decrease to €500 per month (above this amount the fee will be 30%, but not less than €4 per 1 kg), and then up to €200 (15%, but not less than €2). Up to €500 threshold will be reduced by the middle of 2018, said the EEC representative.
