Russia does not consider itself bound by the decision of the Council of Europe on human rights in Crimea

MOSCOW, may 5. /TASS/. Russia does not consider itself bound by the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CMCE) on human rights in Crimea. This is stated in the commentary of the Russian foreign Ministry in connection with the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Crimea, stating a permanent deterioration of human rights on the Peninsula.

“The Russian Federation does not consider itself bound by the specified decision of the Committee of Ministers and does not consider lawful the use of the Ukrainian party in further propaganda constructions, – stressed in dipvedomstva. – For us, they are because of their non-consensual nature of the politically and legally null and void”.

As the Ministry noted, the reasoning of the Committee of Ministers about the “plight” of the population in Crimea have nothing in common with the real situation in the Republic. “They (the Republic of Crimea and city of Federal importance Sevastopol. – Approx. TASS) the population is fully protected under Russian laws and UN conventions and Council of Europe, including the European Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. By the way, as any other Russian region, it is available for any of the monitoring structures of the Council of Europe and other international organizations”, – stated the Minister.

The Ministry stressed that the decision of the Committee of Ministers is not about man and not about his rights. “It’s about how the subject used for political purposes, not thinking about the discrediting of the Committee of Ministers”, – said the Minister.

In these circumstances, said the foreign Ministry, Russia will consider the steps to overcome opportunistic approaches of the Council of Europe for the protection of human rights in the structures of this international organization. “As the state responsible for the situation in the Council of Europe, including the Committee of Ministers of the Russian Federation will be forced to consider steps to overcome those who live in the structures of the Council of Europe, the practice of opportunistic politicking of the issue of human rights throughout the space of the COE, said the foreign Ministry. – For its part introduced the draft decisions of the Committee of Ministers on the support of the Minsk process and on human rights violations in Ukraine. We expect them to be substantive discussion at the next meeting of the Committee.”
