Moscow. May 4. INTERFAX.RU US Dollar during trading on the Moscow exchange on Thursday afternoon updated the most since March 22, rising above 58 rubles – up to 58.03 rubles, which is 62 kopecks above Wednesday’s closing level; the Euro was 63,35 ruble (an increase of 86 cents).
According to experts of “Interfax-CEA”, the marked growth of dollar and Euro to ruble in afternoon trading Thursday due to the continuing fall in price of oil, particularly Brent crude oil fell below $50 a barrel for the first time since March 22. Oil reference marks are cheaper on Thursday on data on growth in US production at the end of the 11th week in a row, which was not observed in 2012.
Additional pressure on the quotes of the ruble is having the desire of market participants to close long positions before the long holidays (in Russia the period from may 6 to 9 declared non-working days).
