Volodin: the Council plans to eliminate the “legal debris” by may 2018

MOSCOW, may 25. /TASS/. The state Duma intends to fully clear the “legal debris” by may next year if we maintain the current pace of work. This was stated by the speaker of the lower house of Parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin at a meeting with his deputies and heads of the Duma committees.

“If we can maintain this pace of work, and quality work, we were able to complete the clearing debt of the former legislative convocations by may next year”, – said the speaker, quoted by the Duma management on interaction with mass media.

“If you solve this problem, we can further focus on the actual agenda, the elaboration of legislative initiatives that are important today for the country,” he said.

Volodin drew the attention of the meeting that “it is necessary to continue active work on the draft laws, considering that until the end of spring session two months left”. “The program of legislative work is very rich, but we must do it without lowering the quality of discussion, observing all the rules of regulations (the state Duma),” he said.

During the meeting the first Deputy Chairman of the state Duma Ivan Melnikov told about the results of activities of the working group on reduction in the number of bills remaining from the previous convocations. Their number, according to him, has decreased almost twice – from 2020 bills to 1026.

In turn, the first Vice-speaker Alexander Zhukov said some of the priority bills that need to be considered before the end of the session. Among them, he called amendments to the Federal budget this year, bills to raise the minimum wage to the subsistence minimum, on information and telecommunication technologies in the health sector, the development of state and municipal services on the principle of “one window” in the multipurpose centres.

“Of course, there will be more discussions, more time would be required for the consideration of laws, but this is the real work of the legislator”, – said Volodin, summing up the meeting.
