Moscow. June 2. INTERFAX.RU – Google this week unveiled the official plans for new London headquarters, which will be gathered about 4 thousand employees. Together with the already existing offices of the company will be placed in the British capital, more than 7 thousand people, writes The Guardian.
The building height of 11 storeys will stretch over 300 metres along king’s Cross in the North-Eastern part of Central London. Application with detailed plans was submitted to the Council of Camden the appropriate area of London.
Future London headquarters was the first building outside the United States to be fully designed for Google-owned company. Area nearly 1 million square feet (92 sq meters). Its architects, Heatherwick Studios and Bjarke Ingels Group.
On the roof is a garden and a Jogging track for recreation and rehabilitation of employees scheduled 25-metre swimming pool and basketball courts, football and gym, massage rooms and sleeping cabins. In addition, employees will work four coffee shop.
It was originally planned that construction will be completed in 2016, but, according to informed sources, 18 months ago, one of the founders of Google Larry page broke the plans of the new headquarters, describing them as too boring. The cost of the first project was 1 billion pounds ($1.3 billion), the financial details of the new plan are still unknown.
Now Google expects to begin construction in 2018. The decision of Google to move out of London, despite coming British exit from the European Union, was considered by experts a vote of confidence in the British economy.
