SoftBank acquired the Japanese manufacturer of robots from Boston Dynamic Alphabet

Moscow. June 9. INTERFAX.RU – Japanese technology company SoftBank Group announced the acquisition of a manufacturer of the robots Boston Dynamic company Alphabet, parent Google. The transaction amount was not disclosed. Also from the press release it is unclear who exactly plays the role of buyer – sama Softbank or its Fund investments in new technologies Vision Fund volume of about $100 billion.

Under the deal, Softbank will become the owner of the Japanese company Schaft, which also operates in the field of robotics.

Boston Dynamics is one of the most well-known manufacturers of robots and anthropomorphic robots, like animals, are able to move on two or four legs to overcome various obstacles. The company’s products often become heroes of popular videos on Youtube. Google bought it in 2013, along with other companies in this field, however, according to rumors, last year tried to sell it.

Shares of Softbank jumped in the course of trading in Tokyo by 7.4%. Another positive factor for the company was the growth of Alibaba shares, then the cost of the package of securities of the company owned by Softbank, jumped to $105,6 billion.
