Moscow. June 9. INTERFAX.RU – Manufacturer of animal feed “Nestle Purina PetCare” intends to expand the factory in the village of Vorsino (Kaluga oblast) in anticipation of increasing demand for its products in Russia.
The total investment in the construction of a new stage of the enterprise will amount to 10 billion in the 2017-2019 biennium., of this sum, 4.3 billion roubles will be invested this year, according to a press release from the company. These funds will be used to install new production lines, expansion of production and warehouse space, as well as the creation of additional infrastructure.
Factory “Nestle Purina PetCare” in Vorsino is one of the largest investment projects of Nestle in Russia. The volume of investments in the development of the factory and distribution center since its opening, which took place in 2007, more than 12 billion rubles.
“We see great potential of the Russian market of forages for Pets until the end of 2019 we intend to invest an additional 10 billion rubles in the expansion of its production facilities in Kaluga region,” – said the regional Director of “Nestle Purina PetCare” in Russia, CIS, Turkey and Israel Alessandro Zanelli.
According to him, the market of forages for cats and dogs in Russia is still in its infancy. The share of industrial feed in the diet of Pets in the country is still rather low and represents 24% of cats and 14% dogs, whereas in Western Europe these figures reach 80-90% and 60-65%, respectively.
“The implementation of the investment project of the new stage of the factory in Vorsino will allow us not only to guarantee steady growth of our business in Russia, but also to make an important contribution to the development of local communities through job creation, development of local suppliers and, of course, will contribute to improving the quality of life of Pets and their owners, providing even more Pets with tasty and healthy food”, – said Zanelli.
In 2016 the total volume of the Russian market of forages for cats and dogs amounted to over 595 thousand tons of finished products, equivalent to more than 147 billion. Thus, over the years it has grown by 1% in real terms and almost 15% of the money, according to Euromonitor International. Experts predict that in the coming years the market growth will continue.
Nestle does business on manufacture of forages for Pets in Russia for 19 years. Currently, the “Nestle Purina PetCare” is 28.2% of the Russian market of forages for Pets in monetary terms, according to AC Nielsen. In 2016, the Russian division showed the best performance indicators among the regional divisions of Nestle Purina PetCare in the world.
