Minsk has exported to Syria dairy products to more than $1 million

Moscow. June 11. INTERFAX.RU – Belarus has exported dairy products to Syria in the current year more than a million dollars, said the head of the main Department of foreign economic activity of the Ministry of agriculture and food Alexei Bogdanov in an interview to the ONT TV channel on Sunday.

“Like the war (in Syria – Interfax), but it is so well-built foreign policy of our state that (…) in this difficult situation the Syrian people are interested to buy our products. And we are already six months we have delivered dairy products – butter, skimmed milk powder and whole milk – more than $1 million,” – said Bogdanov.

Among other new markets Bogdanov has called the countries of Africa. “The growth of supplies of our agricultural products on the African continent has increased by 9 times to last year,” he said, adding that exports of dairy and meat products to the region totaled $0.5 million.

As noted by the head of the main Department of foreign trade activities, in addition to the export of food products promising may be the delivery in Africa of agricultural machinery and the provision of educational services. He recalled that on 6-7 June in Minsk was the first Belarusian-African forum “Belarus and Africa – new horizons”, in which the participants visited the place these days the exhibition “Belagro”, and could see and “touch with their hands” everything, that can offer the Belarusian agribusiness.

The representative of the Ministry of agriculture reported that the development of new markets is carried out in the framework of the program of export diversification. In this regard, he particularly noticed that in January-April of this year, “we export to the Russian Federation decreased by 4% in the share of total exports of agricultural products”.
