Peskov declined to comment on the dispute between the Telegram and the Creator of Roskomnadzor


MOSCOW, June 26. /TASS/. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov refused to comment on the dispute between the Creator of the messenger Telegram Pavel Durov and Roskomnadzor.

“I would like to say that this is not our question. This deals with [the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander] Zharov, it is a question of compliance, which prescribes the current legislation”, – said Peskov reporters.

Answering the question about how the messenger will use a press-service of the Kremlin in the case of blocking the Telegram, Peskov said: “Go to another view which will be more convenient, in this case there is competition, there is choice.”
Peskov also refused to comment on the words of Pavel Durov that the requirements to his company Roskomnadzor, contrary to the norm of the Constitution about the right to privacy of correspondence. “It’s not our problem”, – said the representative of the Kremlin.

Earlier, the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov has personally addressed Pavel Durov, asking to provide information about the company, administering the messenger Telegram, for inclusion in the register of the organizers of the dissemination of information is required under Russian law to work in Russia. If the Telegram does not provide the required data within the prescribed period, the messenger will be blocked in Russia until, until you provided this information.

Durov said that the requirement of Roskomnadzor to provide the office information about the company, administering the messenger Telegram, is contrary to the Constitution about the right to privacy of correspondence. Besides, according to Durov, the company cannot provide Roskomnadzor with “the keys to decrypt”, as they are only stored on the devices of users.
