Moscow. July 1. INTERFAX.RU – IN Russia from July 1, 2017, prohibits the retail sale of beer and other alcoholic beverages in plastic packaging (PET) more than 1.5 liters.
In June last year the state Duma adopted a law restricting the production and sale of alcoholic beverages in plastic bottles larger than 1.5 liters.
A ban on the production and turnover (except retail sale) of alcoholic products in plastic containers larger than 1.5 litres is available from 1 January this year.
The penalties for the production and sale of alcohol in plastic bottles make legal entities from 300 thousand to 500 thousand roubles, for officials – from 100 thousand to 200 thousand rubles.
The law was adopted entitled “On amendments to the law “On state regulation of production and turnover of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and alcohol-containing products and about restriction of consumption (drinking) of alcoholic products” and the Code of the Russian Federation about administrative offences”.
Director for corporate relations Heineken brewery in Russia Cyril Bolmatov has called this bill “a compromise that, though, and will cause the brewing industry, the damage still wouldn’t kill her”. “Pressure aluminum lobby was long and hard, so despite the absurdity of all arguments in favor of limitation of PET containers, the law on this limitation still passed,” – he said “Interfax”.
