Putin instructed the foreign Ministry to sign the Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of terrorism


MOSCOW, July 6. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the foreign Ministry to sign an additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of terrorism. The corresponding decree was published on the official portal of legal information.

“Accept the offer of the government of the Russian Federation on signing the additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of terrorism on October 22, 2015. To instruct the foreign Ministry to sign on behalf of the Russian Federation the additional Protocol”, – the document says.

On 30 June, the government of the Russian Federation has approved presented by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation a proposal on signing the Russian party to the additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of terrorism on October 22, 2015.

This Protocol criminalizes a number of acts, including intentional participation in a terrorist group, training for terrorism, the fact of going abroad for the purposes of terrorism, funding or organization of such visits. The Protocol also establishes a network of available national contact points for the rapid exchange of information. Currently the additional Protocol of 22 October 2015 signed more than 30 countries and ratified by six States.
