MOSCOW, July 12. /TASS/. The center for monitoring and responding to computer attacks in the financial sphere (Finart) recorded single cases of the use of devices capable of reading information from the chip payment cards, according to a press release from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

While such a reading does not automatically unauthorized transfer of funds.

“In accordance with the technology of EMV (international standard for credit card transactions with chip) each transaction carried out with this chip that is unique through the use of cryptographic transformations”, – stated in the message.

The attackers use the information received to create a copy of the payment card is possible, but difficult, said the Bank of Russia.

In the case of an unauthorized transaction for money transfer using payment cards, including those equipped with the chip, the cardholder should contact the issuing Bank to block the card and write a statement of disagreement with the operation. The operator of the money transfer is obliged to consider this statement and to provide the client with all the information about the results of its review within 30 days (if the translation were not cross-border).
