Washington has expressed Moscow a protest in connection with the decision to expel the diplomats

The United States expressed Russia protest in connection with Moscow’s decision to impose retaliatory restrictive measures in respect of Washington, passed by the U.S. Congress a bill to toughen anti-Russian sanctions. As reported by the Washington Post, said the official U.S. state Department spokesman Heather Nauert.

“We expressed [Russia] our strong disappointment and protest”, — quotes its publication. Washington’s position, as explained by Nauert, Russian authorities told U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson and U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Tefft. The first, according to the press-Secretary of the Department of state, July 28, had a telephone conversation with Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and the second on the same day, met in Moscow with zamglavy Russian foreign Ministry Sergei Ryabkov.

How many officials in the result of introduction by Moscow of additional constraints will have to leave Russia by September 1, Nauert said. However, as noted by The Washington Post, the demand of Russia on the drawdown of diplomatic personnel USA to 455 people, apparently, will affect “several hundred people”.

At the same time, according to two diplomatic sources of the newspaper “Kommersant”, this measure could force the US state Department to withdraw from the territory of Russia more than 700 employees.

Previously, on 28 July, the Russian foreign Ministry issued a statement which said that Russia in response to the developed by Washington of new anti-Russian sanctions reduces the number of American diplomats in Russia to 455 people, as well as closes from 1 August access to the American Embassy dacha in Serebryany Bor.
