WSJ: Chinese Great Wall Motor is planning to buy a Jeep at Fiat Chrysler

NEW YORK, August 22. /TASS/. Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motor intends to acquire the Jeep brand, owned by Italian-American auto giant Fiat Chrysler. This was announced on Monday, the newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

The publication refers to information received from Great Wall Motor. However, Chinese companies have refused to specify, sent the application for the purchase of a Jeep, or just being prepared. Great Wall Motor clearly told WSJ that he expects to close the deal and not going to stop.

In Fiat Chrysler, the newspaper reported, “Great Wall Motor did not make approaches to demonstrate interest in a Jeep or any other brand”. The Italian-American giant sells its products in China through a joint venture with the manufacturer of the GAC Group from Guangzhou.

Previously published in the Detroit weekly Automotive News reported about the plans of Chinese companies to acquire Fiat Chrysler completely. The name of the company from China was not disclosed.
