MOSCOW, September 19. /TASS/. Mobile operator MTS has started to provide services for cloud-based big data processing on the basis of own processing centers and data storage, says the company.
The term big data refers to technologies for collecting, storing and processing of large data sets. Big data is widely used, for example, in telecommunications, trade, financial sector and public administration. This market is one of the fastest growing in the field of information technology.
As told TASS in the press service of MTS, the operator will provide Analytics-based arrays anonymized data collected independently and provided to customers. The new service is aimed at businesses who are not ready to implement big data Analytics. So, the product may be used by companies (including small and medium business) to conduct business and financial analysis, target marketing, ad targeting, Analytics and content personalization, as well as the collection and processing of open data.
The implementation of such solutions in the business process your organization is about three months. The processing speed depends on the budget. Cloud platform MTS is powered by VMware (a subsidiary of Dell Technologies).
According to one of participants of the market of cloud-based big data processing, the potential market size is several billion rubles per year. MTS did not disclose any investment, nor a share, which the company plans to occupy the market. The company also does not give an estimate of possible revenue from this service.
MTS focused on the development of cloud services across Russia in early 2017. Other operators also think this direction is important.
“More than half of our customers are actively using cloud services, so for us [is] one of the main focuses of development for this year and next,” – said the press service of “VimpelCom”. The company noted a trend toward active transformation operators for the technology company. VimpelCom actively develops virtual computing where you can deploy different software solutions, added in a press-service of the operator.
The state operator “Rostelecom” actively working towards big data Analytics. At the end of 2015, the operator bought 75% of the company “Acumen – business information system” to enter the “big data”market.
The analysis of large volumes of data using cloud technology do in Russia and Internet companies. Thus, “Yandex” has for this purpose a special unit – Yandex Data Factory (YDF). It was launched in 2014 and has been using artificial intelligence and machine learning to increase productivity and reduce costs through data analysis.
From the beginning of 2017 YDF focused on projects dealing exclusively with the industry, told TASS in the press service of “Yandex”. YDF clients are companies from various sectors of the economy, including oil and gas, telecommunications, banking and aerospace. “At the moment, the international direction of “Yandex” to work with big data is working with more than a dozen industrial companies,” the company said.
A separate division for work with big data have Mail.ru Group, it was created in early 2016. Clients in this direction Mail.ru Group work in such segments as e-commerce, Finance, insurance, retail, transport and logistics.
