The state Duma called ethnocide of the Russian people education reform in Ukraine

MOSCOW, September 27. /TASS/. The state Duma plenary meeting on Wednesday adopted a Declaration on the inadmissibility of violation of the rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities to study in their native language in Ukraine. His project was discussed by representatives of all factions.

“Deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation considered an unacceptable violation of the fundamental rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities of Ukraine to study in their native languages… the Law “About education” would be an act of ethnocide Russian people in Ukraine”, – said in a statement.

The state Duma indicates that the Ukrainian education act violates the obligations of Kiev in the framework of bilateral and international agreements. “Hostile intolerance towards representatives of ethnic groups in Ukraine, unfortunately, is the hallmark of the modern Ukrainian authorities have once again found confirmation in the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine President of Ukraine”, – States Russian lawmakers.

In this context, the state Duma proposes to “combine the efforts of all parliamentary forces in order to protect indigenous peoples and national minorities of Ukraine from forced assimilation and the imposition of any form of discrimination.” “The State Duma deputies Express their solidarity with the protesting attitude of the authorities of Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Moldova, Poland and Romania, as well as residents of the Ukraine on adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine law “On education” and calling on the parliaments of other States, the official languages which are recognized by Ukraine regional languages and languages of national minorities, to take steps to condemn the adopted law “On education”, – said in a statement.

The state Duma also calls on international organizations and parliaments of European countries to take decisive condemnation of the “nationalist policy of intolerance of the” Ukrainian authorities “to take joint measures to restore the violated rights and protection against discrimination of citizens of Ukraine who are representatives of indigenous peoples”.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted on 5 September the law “On education”, which was signed by the President of Ukraine on 25 September. It provided that in 2020, the education system in Ukraine will be Ukrainian fully, which will lead to the disappearance of Russian-language schools and classes and schools for national minorities.
