Izvestia: Yaroshenko said that is discriminated against in an American prison


MOSCOW, 3 Oct. /TASS/. Convicted in the U.S. of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko reported that constantly discriminated against in the conclusion. So, told Russian newspaper “Izvestia”, it has not made the Orthodox priest and was denied a meeting with friends.

“Me in addition to Russian diplomats nobody visits. Americans visit several times a week. In addition, prisoners of other religions enjoy the privileges that the Orthodox man had not even dreamed of,” – said Yaroshenko explained that for inmates of other religions organize religious festivals and prepare special food, and he is not allowed to buy an icon and crucifix.

“Every year I denied this under various pretexts. And this is nothing like discrimination on religious and ethnic grounds” – says the Russian.

Orthodox priest Ljubo Milosevic confirmed that, indeed, I intended to visit the Russian. “I was told that my request and special forms to fill out to visit a prisoner allegedly lost. No notification I received. Now I will try the whole procedure is repeated again,” he said.

In a press-service of the Ombudsman for human rights in Russia, “Izvestia” confirmed that in recent time obtaining information about the Russian prisoners in the US had difficulty in connection with the disinterest of the American side.

Yaroshenko was sentenced in U.S. court on 7 September 2011 to 20 years in prison. In the US it was brought from Liberia, where he was arrested on may 28, 2010. Acting under the cover of American agents of the Federal Directorate for combating drug trafficking allegedly caught him in criminal intent on the transportation of large quantities of cocaine. Russian is in custody in a prison Fort Dix in new Jersey.
