Pushkov: the EU’s position on the transfer of Kiev control over the border is unacceptable

MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. The EU’s position on the speedy transfer of Ukraine of control of its Eastern border as the main element of implementation of the Minsk agreements is totally unacceptable. This was stated on Tuesday by the Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on information policy and interaction with mass media Alexei Pushkov.

“The EU is basically saying: until the control of the Eastern border [of Ukraine] will not return, the EU will not move to review the sanctions policy, he said. – A completely unrealistic task, because the process can be long. Then we freeze in the negative status quo, but not our initiative.”

Pushkov called the EU position actual blockade of the Minsk agreements on settling the situation in Donbas. “It is absolutely unacceptable platform, but it is, unfortunately, dominates the politics of the West,” he added.

The Senator pointed out that the transfer of control over Ukraine’s Eastern border is the ninth paragraph of the Minsk agreements, while in Europe, trying to present the case so that it needs to be implemented immediately after after the requirements of the first paragraph on the cessation of hostilities.
