MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. Russia does not intend to accede to the Treaty banning nuclear weapons (the NPT by), it is destabilizing. This was stated on Friday, the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at the Moscow nonproliferation conference.
“Concerned that the review conference in 2020 under the Treaty on the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons (NPT) yet we come with disappointing results, – noted the Minister. Destructive actions of a number of States, violating the consensus on the draft outcome document of the previous review conference in 2015, has caused serious damage to the viability of the contract and pushed many countries towards accelerated development of the NPT by, which was recently opened for signature”.
“We do not intend to accede to the NPT by. His supporters, recently awarded the Nobel prize, apparently, are guided by good purpose: a ban on the weapons, the Minister said. – Only in the context of General and complete disarmament, while ensuring equal and indivisible security for all, including for holders of nuclear weapons”.
“Presented to the signing of the document is far from these principles, ignores the need to consider all the factors that influence today on strategic stability and could have a destabilizing effect on the non-proliferation regime, – said Lavrov. As a result: the world may become even less stable and predictable.”
