Putin signed his first decree on new citizens, obliged to take the oath

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the decree about reception in nationality of the Russian Federation, contains the requirement of bringing new citizens oath. The document is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

According to him, citizens of Russia will be 62 people, as well as their children. The document notes that they “have the right to citizenship of the Russian Federation from the date of taking each of them of the oath of the citizen of the Russian Federation”. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 18, they will become citizens after taking the oath of their parents.

In July, Putin signed a law dealing with Russian citizenship – the introduction of an oath for new citizens, and on simplified granting Russian citizenship to Ukrainians and to revoke citizenship from terrorists. The document enshrines in law the text of the oath for persons who receive Russian citizenship. The oath shall be taken after the adoption authority in charge of Affairs about citizenship of the Russian Federation, the decision on granting citizenship of the Russian Federation. The refusal of the oath will lead to the cancellation of this decision.

The law came into force on 1 September 2017.
