MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. About 600 new precinct election commissions may appear in the Moscow region before the presidential elections in March 2018. This was announced on Tuesday by the Chairman of the CEC of Russia Nikolay Bulaev.
Speaking at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee for Federative structure, regional policy, local government and Northern Affairs, he recalled that the amendments to the electoral law this year, include the possibility of downsizing of polling stations and reducing the number of voters on them with a maximum of 3 thousand to 1,5 thousand thus, according to bulaeva, the rule still “was sleeping” and have never been implemented.
“The only exception we made for Moscow region. We assume that in the Moscow region will be downsizing portions and will create about 600 new electoral commissions,” – said the Deputy Chairman of the CEC, adding that the rest of the regions asked to refrain from such decisions.
Bulaev of the opinion that “before the presidential campaign to work on downsizing portions – a thankless task”. “This is game-changing. To carry out this work, we need enough active information work, people need to know how to find your plot,” explained Bulaev.
The Russian presidential election will take place on 18 March 2018, the campaign will be officially announced in the period from 7 to 17 December.
