MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier are going to work on the development of relations between the two countries, despite the political difficulties. About the Russian leader said after talks.
“Stated that, despite the political difficulties, the Russian-German relations are not static, and we are ready to work together to further their development,” Putin said.
He noted that even in the face of various political constraints and largely related to the downturn in bilateral trade, Germany remains one of the leading foreign trade partners and the key investors in the Russian economy. Putin noted with satisfaction the growth of bilateral trade.
“If in 2016 the mutual trade shrank by 11% in January-July this year, she added, and immediately 25%” – led the statistics, the President of the Russian Federation, noting also the growth of inflow of direct investments from Germany. During the first quarter of this year they reached a volume of $312 million, significantly exceeding the figure for the whole of 2016. Putin reminded that Russia employs over 5.5 thousand enterprises from Germany, total turnover of which exceeds $50 billion.
“I note that the German business is configured to further expand its activities in the Russian market, this, in particular, was discussed on 12 October in Sochi on a meeting with members of the Eastern Committee of German economy and the guidance of leading German companies”, – he reminded.
Putin said that the talks with Steinmeier raised the topic of energy, the sides spoke in favor of strengthening industrial cooperation. According to the President of the Russian Federation, this year in Russia earned a few new plants, built with the participation of German business and signed a contract to launch a large-scale petrochemical production in Tatarstan with a total investment of $10 billion.
