Zakharova: Russia is considering retaliatory measures on restrictions RT and Sputnik

BUENOS AIRES, October 27. /Offset. TASS Elena Kondratieva/. The Russian government is considering retaliatory measures on the decision of Facebook to remove all advertising from the accounts of the RT and news Agency Sputnik. About it the correspondent of TASS said Friday the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, who arrived in Argentina to attend the first consultations of the press services of ministries of foreign Affairs of the two countries.

“It is being decided now. We have such a thing as interdepartmental coordination, because such measures involve the development of a consolidated position, which will be based, of course, in the Russian legislation”, – she said.

“It’s not our choice,” – said Zakharov. According to her, competition in the media field should occur between the media on the basis of the quality of the material. “Use of administrative cudgel, and especially the entire Arsenal of U.S. intelligence – this game is already against the rules, this is fighting without rules. That is what we will be responsible”, she said.

The official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry also noted that the decision Twitter makes me think about the pressure of US intelligence to private business. She said that the company “did not provide evidence that would motivate the adoption of such decisions.” “There is a sense that there is no evidence, and we are talking just about the direct pressure of the US intelligence to private business”, – said Zakharov.

However, she stressed that Twitter is not just a private company, and the company, “which operates in the media field and has a huge amount of information, which may be of a private nature”, of citizens not only the USA but also in other countries. “That is, things that require increased international attention to this situation”, – said Zakharov.

Previously, Twitter explained that the decision to remove advertising from the pages of the TV channels and news agencies based on the verification of messages about the 2016 elections in the United States and “the conclusions of the U.S. intelligence community that RT and Sputnik made attempts to intervene in elections on behalf of the Russian leadership.”
