The head of the Russian interior Ministry has denied the rumors about the merge of traffic police and PPS

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has denied the rumors about a possible merger of the state Inspectorate for road traffic safety and patrol, as written by some media.

“I need these rumors to dispel. In Kazakhstan learned that they have merged patrol and road patrol services. I was requested to examine this experience, to find out how it is applicable in the Russian reality. Were born the rumors about the merger, but you have to understand that not everything new that we learn during foreign visits, are brought to life,” – said Kolokoltsev in an interview published Tuesday in the newspaper “Izvestia”.

According to him, the challenge is to reduce road traffic injuries. “And there are positive moments. In the current year compared to the same period last year decreased by 10% the number of fatalities,” – said the Minister.

He noted that the work was carried out in terms of staff cuts, funding problems. “But thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of interior, governors, heads of Federal Executive authorities, including the Ministry of transport, and many others we were able to keep roads stable situation and to improve the safety of road users,” – said Kolokoltsev.

However, he noted that “change is always was, is and will be the Ministry of the interior – not the exception.” “Due to various circumstances our services and departments change, but the goals and challenges remain,” the Minister added.
