Peskov: absence of a full meeting of Putin and trump compensated contacts in Vietnam


Da NANG, November 11. /TASS/. The lack of full-fledged bilateral meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his us counterpart Donald trump was compensated for by multiple contacts on the sidelines of the APEC summit in da Nang (Vietnam), said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

“The contacts were multiple [two presidents], he said. – Lack of full-length scrimmages compensated multiple contacts on the sidelines of the APEC summit”.

Large-scale contacts between two heads of state in da Nang (Vietnam) at the summit of leaders of the Asia-Pacific economic cooperation (APEC) was not. At the final press conference, Putin explained this fact of Protocol complexities. “As for separate meetings with Mr. trump, first, this was due to the work schedule of Mr. trump with my schedule. And with certain formalities of Protocol, with whom our teams, unfortunately, you have not succeeded,” he said

At the summit, trump and Putin issued a joint statement on Syria, which confirmed the commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and called for a political settlement of the Syrian conflict in the framework of the Geneva process. In the American version of this paper circulated by the state Department, also said: “President trump noted that he had a good meeting with President Putin”.
