MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Amendments to the legislation regulating the status of “foreign agent” for the media, can be introduced into the lower chamber, representatives of all factions of the state Duma. TASS said Monday a source familiar with the situation.
“These amendments could be made of all factions”, – said the Agency interlocutor. According to him, currently drafting a legislative solution that may be issued in the form of specific legislative initiatives Tuesday.
The decision on inclusion of the issue in the agenda, according to the source, likely to be adopted at the next meeting of the Duma Council after discussion of the document at a meeting with leaders of parliamentary factions. “Tomorrow [November 14] before the Council of the Duma will gather the leaders of the factions. On the Duma Council must make a decision that these amendments should go or second reading of a bill or a separate bill,” he explained.
The source also added that while discussing the possibility of disseminating the provisions of the law on NGOs – “foreign agents” for the media operating on the territory of Russia.
November 10 the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has instructed the profile committees of the lower house of the legislature to develop a symmetrical response to the actions of the justice Department, which obliged the Russian television station Russia Today to register as a foreign agent. As he told reporters, the relevant draft law may be considered in the first reading on Wednesday, November 15, and November 17, adopted in the third and final reading.
