Kosachev assured that the rights of the victim will be protected to its fullest extent


MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Right Senator Suleiman Kerimov, who in France were charged with money laundering with tax evasion, will be protected to its fullest extent, further actions will be determined after analysis of the decision of the French court.

This was stated by TASS on Thursday, the head of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev.

“Obviously it is only that the rights and interests of Suleiman Kerimov as a citizen of the Russian Federation and as a member of the Council of the Federation will be protected fully and as actively as possible. Further actions will be determined after a thorough legal analysis of the decision of the French court. SF will lead in this direction by their own work and to expect the relevant conclusions and recommendations from the Ministry of justice and Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia”, – said Kosachev.

He added that action needs to be legally verified, targeted and coordinated between different branches of government.

Kerimov was arrested in the nice airport in the night on Tuesday. The incident caused a sharp negative reaction from Russian politicians. The Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko did not rule out that the detention of the victim began “hunting politicians of the Russian Federation”.

The Prosecutor of nice, Jean-Michel Pratt TASS reported that Kerimov will remain free, but will not be able to leave the Alpes-Maritimes Department until the end of the investigation, paying pre-Deposit amount of 5 million euros.
