Russia gave US a note to close the site “Peacemaker”

MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Russia sent a note to the state Department in connection with the fact that the site “Peacemaker”, which published the personal information of journalists covering the events in the Donbas, moved to the us servers.

At the moment of response on the American side were reported. This was reported to journalists on Thursday the Director of the Department of information and press of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“We gave a note to the US state Department, which contains the characteristics of the portal “the Peacemaker”, and this document also contains the requirement to deny them U.S. residency, as from the activities of this so-called peacekeeping website suffered not one journalist, she said. – At the moment the official response to our appeal was received, but we will this issue keep under special control”.

“Feel the difference: this close surveillance for any step taken by the Russian media and the information that they spread, the maximum creation of atmosphere of intolerance to the Russian media, and the absolute inaction in connection with the site, the activity of which is contrary to all norms of corporate ethics,” she said. The diplomat added that the site “Peacemaker” also undermine the journalists that “such a carefully guarded by the world community” and threatens their security.

Site “Peacemaker” that is associated with the Verkhovna Rada Deputy and adviser to the interior Minister of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko, was created in the spring of 2014 to establish the identity of the militia of Donbass and the people helping them. There are people who, according to the newspaper, could commit crimes against national security. The number of “undesirables”, were included even such anti-Russian policies as the leader of the “Fatherland” party and ex-President of Georgia, former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili.

In addition, in the database “Peacemaker” contained the personal data of the journalists, RT, TASS, and bi-Bi-si, Reuters, AFP, CNN, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, Associated Press, the Independent, LibĂ©ration, and other media. The information resources posted the names of correspondents, publications, where they work, their positions, mobile phone numbers, email addresses and dates of stay on the uncontrolled Ukrainian government territory. However, the publication of media workers are accused of “aiding terrorist organizations”.

After excitation of criminal case in the beginning of 2016, the staff of the project “Peacemaker” at the request of a group of Ukrainian and foreign journalists, as well as in connection with the requirements of the EU representative about blocking of site data, the project was closed. But soon the site “Peacemaker” has resumed work in spite of numerous protests.
