Matvienko said that there is no need to reform the Federal Assembly


MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. No need to reform the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation no, said Friday the Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko in interview to TV channel “Russia 24”.

“Reforming the Federal Assembly is the conversation nowhere and nothing. I am convinced that our Constitution balanced relationship of different levels of government and created the conditions to avoid conflicts,” – said Matvienko.

However, she noted that to improve the activity of the Russian Parliament must, in this sense, there is work to do, despite the fact that in recent years in the Federation Council, much has changed.

“The Federation Council has become more content, new formats, has changed the composition. We are not in words, but actually become the chamber of regions, but nevertheless have to improve, has to improve. Here we should work on this We’re going to do,” said Matvienko.

Speaking of manual control on the example of Parliament, the Federation Council speaker stressed that there should be no domination. “I’m the Chairman of the Federation Council, but I’m a Senator, like everyone else, I just have additional powers and functions. And here is the domination of anyone should not be. It is a collective body, which should discuss, to argue,” she said.
