Deported from U.S., Russian diplomats arrived in Moscow


MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The first plane from Washington sent from the US Russian diplomats landed Sunday in the Moscow airport Vnukovo-2. About it the correspondent of TASS from the event.

On Board the Il-96 are 46 employees of the Russian Embassy in Washington and the members of their families. About an hour before arrival of the aircraft at the airport stopped a convoy of buses which, presumably, takes people directly to Moscow.

For diplomats and their families who fled the United States after Washington’s decision to join the anti-Russian measures in connection with the case of ex-GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal, was sent two Il-96 special flight detachment “Russia”. Late on Sunday, the second Board will bring a group of diplomats from new York and 14 employees of the Consulate General and permanent mission to the UN with their families.

On 26 March the United States announced the expulsion of from 60 Russian diplomats (46 people from the Embassy in Washington, two of the Consulate General in new York, another 12 employees of the permanent mission to the UN declared persona non grata), and the closure of the Consulate General of Russia in Seattle. This decision was taken in connection with the poisoning in the UK Skripal, in which a number of Western countries accuse Moscow. Only the United States left 171 people.
