MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said Telegram the easy channel for communication with journalists, however, will seek alternative, if the messenger is closed.
“There are many instant messenger apps, Telegram is very convenient, indeed, we use it, including communication with journalists,” – said a Kremlin spokesman, answering media questions. He admitted: “it would Be very unfortunate if you will not find a consensus [between the leadership of the Telegram and oversight bodies], and while we understand that it is not found”.
“But the law is the law, and if it is not met and no action would be taken, we will look for an alternative that will meet our needs,” – said Peskov.
As stated by the Telegram lawyer Ramil ahmetgaliev, the messenger has no technical possibility to provide the FSB the keys from the correspondence and does not plan to fulfill these requirements because of their unconstitutionality.
“The position remains the same Telegram – the requirements of the FSB to provide access to private communications of users of unconstitutional, not based on the law, technically and legally unenforceable, hence the requirement to lock also unreasonable,” said ahmetgaliev.
At the same time, he noted that he does not have the claim of Roskomnadzor and can’t comment on the legal and technical details. “It all depends on the text of the claim, while we have not read it so can’t give detailed comments,” – said the Agency interlocutor.
Earlier, on Friday Roskomnadzor has submitted the claim to the Telegram company for failure to answer within the prescribed period for the keys to decrypt user messages. As reported TASS the press service of the Tagansky court, the claim of Roskomnadzor with request to block the messenger Telegram received by the court.
