“If we do not achieve a settlement at the talks, we will go the way of the application of sections 232 and 301” – he said, referring to provisions of laws on trade in 1962 and 1974. Section 232 of the Act promoting the trade of 1962 provides for an investigation of the question of how the importation of certain goods affect the national security of the United States, and section 301 of the trade Act of 1974 authorizes the US President to use all necessary measures to counter the limitations of national trade.
