Peskov: Russia plans contacts between diplomats of the DPRK


MOSCOW, may 24. /TASS/. Russia and North Korea plan contacts through diplomatic channels to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula. In an interview with NTV said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

“Let’s hope [for the positive development of the situation]. You know that [Russia has] planned your contacts, contacts between Russian representatives and representatives of the DPRK, on the diplomatic front, they expected”, – he said.

“We hoped for the best, that will be able to maintain this momentum [in the settlement],” added Sands.

A Kremlin spokesman said that “Moscow is consistent, well-known position” on the Korean settlement. “We are the advocates for the parties avoided any steps that could lead to further escalation of tensions on the Peninsula,” – said Peskov. “And especially against harming the fragile settlement process, the first stirrings of which appeared”, – he added. “Of course, I would not want to hurt it,” – said Peskov.
