Medvedev signed the document on the railroad southward to bypass Ukraine


A railway section zhuravka-Millerovo is built in order to bypass the territory of Ukraine. The new branch in the South of Russia will pass through the Voronezh region.

SLIDES, 21 Sep. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the signed documents on the procedure of construction of the railway section leading to the Rostov region bypassing Ukraine.

“This paper on the construction of the railway on the section zhuravka-Millerovo… is a branch that is created, is built in order to bypass the territory of Ukraine. This new branch will take place on the territory of the Voronezh region in Rostov”, — Medvedev said at a meeting with Deputy Prime Ministers.

According to him, this is done in order to ensure independent and sustainable movement of trains in a southern direction, “not to be tied to the problems and troubles that, unfortunately, are our neighbours”.

Medvedev noted that construction of a new branch and it is important for citizens who use the route, and has social and economic value associated with the carriage of goods.

“The obvious advantages of natural associated with construction is also the construction of housing, social infrastructure near the new line and the appearance of additional jobs. The order allows authorities and local governments to make decisions to ensure the construction of this part of the railway line,” he said.

The Prime Minister explained that local authorities will now be able to decide on reservation lands, the seizure of land for state and municipal needs, about transfer of land from one category to another, the development of documentation for planning the territory in order to create an object of Federal importance. “A complex task, so anyone with this from the leadership of the government, I would like to draw attention to it”, — said Medvedev.

A new double-track electrified railway zhuravka-Millerovo to connect Voronezh and Rostov region and to decongest existing highway, a small stretch of which passes through the territory of Ukraine. The idea of the crawl have existed for several years, but was updated in 2014 because of the deterioration of relations with Ukraine.

The customer of construction of the new line were the Railways. From 11 th to 31-th kilometer of the railway troops are working, other parts build civic organizations. It is not excluded that in the future the railway troops will be involved for the construction of other sections of this road. In August, Deputy defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov told reporters that the railway troops are building a new road ahead of the originally set term for more than a month.
