MOSCOW, 29 sen. The interests of Russia and the United States sometimes overlap, particularly in the States have a special responsibility to the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, said the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
“One aspect of our cooperation, which is extremely important today for many people, for millions of people on the planet is the common efforts and the common fight against terrorism, other manifestations of this kind,” said Putin in an interview with American journalist Charlie rose of CBS and PBS television channels in anticipation of participation in the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.
Speaking about maintaining stability in the world, the Russian President noted that Russia and the U.S. as the largest nuclear powers are additional special responsibilities.
“By the way, in certain areas we are succeeding and work together, particularly on the Iranian nuclear program. We worked together and as a whole achieved a positive result”, — Putin said, explaining that this was achieved due to the coincidence of interests of two States.
“The fact is that, as it may seem to someone strange, the interests of the United States and the Russian Federation, it is still sometimes coincide. And in this case, when I just talked about the fact that we bear a special responsibility for the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, our interests coincide here exactly”, — concluded the President of the Russian Federation.
