Behind Dmitry Mezentsev years of work in the Federation Council on a post of the Governor of the Irkutsk region and the Secretary-General of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO).
MOSCOW, 9 Oct. The Secretary-General of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) Dmitry Mezentsev may be part of the international Affairs Committee of the Federation Council and receive in it a post of the first Vice-President, wrote in Friday newspaper “Izvestia” citing a source in the Committee.
As said the interlocutor of the edition, Mezentseva waiting on international line of work given his knowledge and connections.
“I don’t know anything about what the Committee will elect Dmitry Mezentsev, but it is obvious that a person who has worked as the General Secretary of the SCO, has extensive international experience. If he makes the choice in favor of our Committee, it is clear that the topic of the SCO in the parliamentary dimension can receive additional impulses”, — quote “Izvestia” the Deputy Chairman of the international Affairs Committee of the Federation Council Andrei Klimov.
The former head of management on internal policy of presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Senator Oleg Morozov told the newspaper that Mezentsev “seasoned parliamentarian, who for many years worked in the Federation Council, worked for the Governor of the Irkutsk region, in the SCO, which also got great experience,” and worthy person for the Committee on international Affairs.
“Therefore, it is clear that this is a very useful person to the Federation Council, and the Committee on foreign Affairs,” — said Morozov.
Earlier it was reported that the Secretary-General of the SCO Dmitry Mezentsev has accepted the offer to become the Senator from the Sakhalin region and will begin their duties on December 31, 2015. He Mezentsev noted that international experience should help him in his new position.
Mezentsev was a Senator between 2002 and 2006. He was the head of the Federation Council Commission on information policy, from 2004 to 2009 he was Vice-speaker of the house, oversaw inter-parliamentary relations, science, education and culture, improvement of legislation in sphere of mass media and a number of other issues.
