Siluanov: Russia will go to court, if Kiev will refuse to pay on the debt


According to the Minister of Finance of Russia, Moscow may sue Kiev in case of refusal of debt payments on Eurobonds is the condition of the Eurobond issue was stated in the agreement.

MOSCOW, 10 Oct. The Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Moscow is in court to seek the return of Kiev’s debt for Eurobonds.

On air of TV channel “Russia 24” the Minister said that Russia “will go to court in the way specified condition order the placement of Eurobonds, which Ukraine is placed and in which we have invested public funds. Therefore, we seek opportunities for Ukraine’s fulfillment of its obligations at the end of the current year”.

The Minister added that if Ukraine will refuse payment, it would mean the default state.

Ahead of the meeting with the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko, the Russian Minister said that funds received in repayment of the debt will be immediately invested in the Russian economy.

Earlier, the Minister repeatedly said that Russia has no plans in any way to participate in the restructuring of Ukraine’s debt, as required by Kiev, and will demand full repayment on time in December 2015 — the whole issue of Eurobonds for $ 3 billion. Ukraine has received the funds in December 2013, when power was President Viktor Yanukovych.
