Breeding and genetic center for dairy farming, the draft of which was presented at the exhibition “Golden autumn-2015”, will be built by 2017 in the Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region on the basis of studying the agricultural practices of Europe and America, said at the AGROFORUM Vice-Governor of the region Sergey yakhnyuk.
MOSCOW, 12 Oct. Breeding and genetic center for dairy farming, the draft of which was presented at the exhibition “Golden autumn-2015”, will be built by 2017 in the Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region on the basis of studying the agricultural practices of Europe and America, said at the AGROFORUM Vice-Governor – Chairman of the Committee on agriculture and fishery Sergei yakhnyuk.
“The new breeding centre by 2017 will be on poroshkino village of Vsevolozhsk district of Leningrad region. The construction of the center plant breeding “Mounds” is one of the priority investment projects of the region. We are trying to learn from the experiences of European and American countries in the creation of such genetic centres, to be transferred to the Leningrad area”, — said the yakhnyuk.
The center plans to breed cattle of Holstein and Ayrshire breeds. Plan the total number will be 78 bulls and 50 heifers donor for embryo transfer.
As an example, in a press-service of the regional government called the practice centre of dairy farming in Western Europe — Benelux, who gave the world-famous black-and-white cows, in various regions of the formed of Holstein Friesian and types of cattle. Now they form the bulk of the world’s dairy herds.
“In genetic and plant breeding center will be engaged in the transplantation of embryos, the establishment of a broodstock, which could be used to wash the embryos and get a faster transplant,” — said Vice-Governor.
As have informed in a press-service of the regional government, the construction will be three buildings for the maintenance of breeding bulls and heifers, combined with laboratory-technological building, and the laboratory of milk quality assessment, immunogenetics and bacteriological laboratory. The total number of staff, including specialists, machine management and auxiliary services will be about 60 people.
“In addition to breeding and genetic centers of animals, we need to create such centers by the crop. To date, the creation of such objects has a high potential. These trends in genetics should be the strategy of 20-30 years of the XXI century”, — said the yakhnyuk.
