Fursov was the head of administration of Samara, and in 2012-2014 he served as Minister of labour, employment and migration policy of the region. For the candidacy of the new mayor voted by 38 deputies of the city Parliament, two against.

SAMARA, 13 Oct. The deputies of the city Parliament elected the mayor of Samara acting city Manager Oleg Krotov, reported the press service of the Duma of Samara.

“For the candidacy of Oleg Fursov has 38 deputies voted for, two against. Today he came into the position of the head of Samara”, — said the Agency interlocutor.

According to the press service of the Duma, elections of the mayor took place in two stages. First, the competition Commission conducted interviews with all the candidates for the post. The relevant documents for participation in competition were submitted by eight people.

Of them, the Committee recommended two candidates: the current head of the administration Oleg Fursova Samara and the Deputy Chairman of the provincial Duma Mikhail Belousov. According to the Commission, the other candidates had relevant work experience in bodies of state and municipal service or lacked the necessary documents. Then there was the vote of deputies.

The inauguration of the mayor of Samara Oleg Fursov was held after the meeting of the Duma in Palace of culture of Railwaymen. He is elected for a term of five years. Fursov previously was head of administration of Samara. From 2012 to 2014 he served as Minister of labour, employment and migration policy of the region.

Direct election of the mayor of Samara canceled by the decision of the provincial Duma in September 2014. The last elected mayor was Dmitry Azarov, which was delegated to the Federation Council. At the end of last year in Samara mayor and city Manager shared. The city Manager was a former Minister of labour of the region Oleg Fursov. Chairman of the Duma Alexander Fetisov became head of the city. In the summer of 2015, the Duma of Samara decided to re-merge the post of city Manager and mayor.
