The Cabinet approved a bill to raise the minimum wage


The Ministry Earlier proposed to increase the minimum wage by 12.2% to 6693 rubles a month. The bill was approved by Cabinet and will be submitted to the state Duma.

MOSCOW, 16 Oct. The government on Thursday decided to introduce a bill to amend the Federal law “About the minimum wage” in the state Duma, reported on the website of the Cabinet.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of labor of the Russian Federation proposed to increase the minimum wage (SMIC) to 6693 rubles per month, increasing thus by 12.2% compared to the year 2015. From January 2015 the minimum wage is set in the amount of 5965 rubles per month. This Friday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets told journalists that the minimum wage will be indexed by 4%.

“To approve the draft Federal law “On amending article 1 of the Federal law “On minimum wage” and submit it to the State Duma under established procedure”, — stated in the message.
