The fall of the retail turnover in Russia in September was the highest since 2000


The fall of the retail turnover in September in annual terms amounted to 10.4%. Thus, the turnover amounted to 2,336 trillion rubles. In monthly terms, the retail sales in September showed a decline for the first time since April by 3%.

MOSCOW, 19 Oct. Retail trade turnover in Russia in January-September of 2015 decreased by 8.5% in comparable prices compared with the same period last year — up to 19,973 trillion rubles, in September — by 10.4%, to 2,336 trillion rubles, is spoken in the operational report of Rosstat.

Thus, the decline of retail turnover in September in annual terms was the highest since the beginning of 2000, earlier data from Rosstat are not available. The previous “record” of the fall belonged to April of this year, when retail trade turnover in annual terms decreased by 9.6%.

In monthly terms, the retail sales in September showed a decline for the first time since April by 3%. In August, retail turnover increased by 3% in July to 3.3%, in June — by 0.2%, in may by 2.4%. In April, sales fell by 2.6% in March rose by 6.8%, and in January and February fell by 32.7% and 4% respectively.

In September retail trade turnover 91.4% was formed by trading organizations and individual entrepreneurs out of the market. The share of retail markets and fairs amounted to 8.6%. In September of last year these shares amounted to 91.1% and 8.9%, respectively.

In the structure of retail trade turnover in September has a specific weight of food products, beverages and tobacco products was 47.8%, the share of non-food products — 52.2 per cent (in September of last year, at 46.6% and 53.4%, respectively).
